During an ostentatious wedding reception at a Knoxville, Tennessee, estate, five reluctant, identically clad bridesmaids hide out in an upstairs bedroom, each with her own reason to avoid the proceedings below.  They are Frances, a painfully sweet but sheltered fundamentalist; Mindy, the cheerful, wise-cracking lesbian sister of the groom; Georgeanne, whose heartbreak over her own failed marriage triggers outrageous behavior; Meredith, the bride's younger sister, whose precocious rebelliousness masks a dark secret; and Trisha, a jaded beauty whose die-hard cynicism about men is called into question when she meets Tripp, a charming bad-boy usher to whom there is more than meets the eye.

As the afternoon wears on, these five very different women joyously discover a common bond in this wickedly funny, irreverent, and touching celebration of the women's spirit.

"...[a] wonderfully entertaining play..." New York Post
"FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS is a fresh-as-a-daisy comedy, funny as can be..." New York Daily News
"Ball has the comic writer's requisite talent for dialogue that ricochets snappily around the stage." TheaterWeek

Our Cast
(★ New ICT Faces)

Frances

Jenna Morris
This is Jenna's third show with ICT! She was also in The Colbern County Broadcast Interruption and Airport Encounters. She hopes you enjoy watching her play a role that comes naturally to her - the weird cousin.

Meredith

Talulabel Gilpin ★
Talulabel is excited about her first production here in Iola since moving from Oregon, where she participated in multiple productions with Clackamas Community College. Her first production was here in Iola, in 2012, "The Tortoise and the Hare," put on by the traveling Missoula children's theater. She's 23, a Pisces, and was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Trisha

Halie Luken ★
Halie is excited to make her ICT acting debut with "Five Women"! Although this isn't her first time on this particular stage, you may have seen her before in ICT's Improv Comedy Troupe. She has been the leader for the group and emcee for the shows for the last two years. She also has been on the Iola Community Theatre Board since 2022. When she's not busy with her two jobs, she likes to attend musicals and plays in the Kansas City area, hang out with her three dogs, or absolutely nothing. Thank you so much for supporting live theatre!

Georgeanne

Kate Vernon
Kate is a long-time Iola resident and has appeared in many Iola Community Theater shows. She is very glad to be back on the stage in the role of Georgeanne, as her last show was "All Together Now" in 2021. During her hiatus, Kate has taken on the role of "music teacher" at Iola Elementary School. She is attending Wichita State University to finish her teaching degree and has discovered a passion for instilling a love for the arts in others. Her own passion for the arts keeps her coming back to the stage despite her hectic schedule. Kate would like to thank her mother and step-father for always supporting every crazy dream she ever had, and her husband Paul for dealing with her busy life and still being her number one fan.

Mindy

Rhi Jordan
Rhi is thrilled to be returning to the ICT stage for her fourth show. You may recognize her from her recent turn as Maid Marian or any other role where she basically played a version of herself. She also is a founding member of ICT's Improv Comedy Troupe along with castmates Halie Luken and Cody Easley. Rhi would like to thank Jeff, River, Piper and Winston for their continued support. Also thanks to Paige for her direction and guidance, as well as Halie, Kate, Jenna, Talulabel, and Cody for such a delightful experience. Wishing the cast and crew a very merry break-a-leg.

Tripp

Cody Easley
Cody is extremely grateful to be appearing in his 3rd ICT stage production. Cody was an avid forensics competitor in high school and was a theatre major at Coffeyville Community College. Looking for a way to branch out and meet people, Cody joined ICT's improv troupe, which opened the door for more acting opportunities on stage. Cody would like to thank the director, Paige Olson, for giving him this opportunity and would like to tell everyone else in the cast and crew to break-a-leg!

Crew:

Director/Costumes/Set Crew

Paige Schauf-Olson
Paige is so excited to not only be able to direct her first full-length show but she is honored that she gets to direct THIS show with all of the amazing people that are in it and have helped create it. Paige previously co-directed ICT's production of "Airport Encounters" with Rhi Jordan, and she previously appeared on the ICT stage in "Clue: On Stage" (Scarlett). As a kid, she spent her summers on the ICT Warehouse stage learning all the theatre skills from the teachers at Children's Summer Theatre Workshop, and using the same space to direct "Five Women" has felt comfortable and like home. Paige would like to thank everyone who has helped bring this show to life. But specifically, she'd like to thank her husband, Nic Olson, for spending his winter break designing and building a set, and for listening to and supporting her through the entire show-making process. She'd also like to thank her kids, Jim, Mat, and Griff, for helping build the set, and for staying up a little extra each night after rehearsal so that she can play with them. She hopes you enjoy the show, and if you don't enjoy it, that you lie to her.

Set Manager/Stage Manager/Sound Design

Nic Olson
Nic is super stoked to be part of the production team for "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress." This is Olson's second full season with ICT. On stage, Olson appeared in ICT's productions of "County Fair" (as Dogberry) and "Clue! on Stage" (as Wadsworth) as well as among the ensemble of ICT's production of "All Together Now". In 2022, he wrote and directed "The Colbern County Broadcast Interruption", an original holiday ghost story. Olson has previously worked on stage design for ICT's "Clue! on Stage" with his brother, Ben Olson. He has been a member of ICT's Board of Directors since 2022. Nic would like to thank his wife and partner (and director) Paige Schauf-Olson for the opportunity to create something with her, and the community for supporting the arts and local small productions like these. Enjoy the show!

Props Mistress/Hair/Understudy

Amanda Easley
Amanda is excited to be working on her second formal production with ICT. She is the most recent addition to ICT's Improv Comedy Troupe and was a lady/merry man in the recent production of "Robin Hood". Amanda is a local Special Education teacher, having recently graduated from Emporia State with her Masters. She wants to thank her family and friends for their support!!! Congratulations and break-a-leg to her Husband - the sole male in the cast of Five Women. Your support of local theatre is very much appreciated.

Makeup Design

Madison Luken
Maddie is beyond thrilled to collaborate with her sister Paige for this production of Five Women! Although Maddie is no stranger to being on and off stage for various productions in Iola, this is her official ICT debut. From a young age, she picked up a makeup brush and since has had trouble putting it down. One of the biggest joys in Maddie's life is seeing someone's face light up when their makeup is done, seeing their natural beauty enhanced in an all-new perspective. She accredits her love for the theatre to none other than her sister. Growing up, she found herself like any other little sister, wanting to be just like her big sister, and one day she nabbed her sister's DVD of "The Producers (2005)" and couldn't stop humming about wanting to be a producer. Even though that's not how her career panned out, she always finds her way back to the theatre.

Hair/Costumes

Katie Knoblich
Katie was born and raised in Iola, KS, and is a lover of all things theater! In the past, she has been blessed to be in numerous musicals and plays. Katie enjoys singing, dancing, hair, makeup, performing, costume creation, and karaoke. Katie is a proud ICT Board Member, a recipient of the American Legion Award, and she is a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Iola.

Set Crew

James Olson
James was born for the stage. Although not appearing in many shows, James has appeared in 3 Children's Summer Theater Workshop performances as well as ICT's productions of "County Fair" (as a townsperson) and as part of the ensemble of "All Together Now!" He is also a dancer for Miss Chelsea's Dance Academy, most recently appearing as Pain in "Zero to Hero." James helped gather and move pieces for the back wall and earned himself some splinters. He wants to wish everyone who helped this show come together: "Break a leg!"

Set Crew

Matrim Olson
Matrim is excited to be a part of any ICT show but especially his mom's show. He has appeared previously onstage as "Young Curtis" in ICT's "The Colbern County Broadcast Interruption" and is a two-year participant of Iola's own Children's Summer Theatre Workshop (CSTW). On the set crew, Matrim helped paint flats and supervised the heavy lifting. To the whole cast and crew: "Break a leg!"

Set Crew

Griffin Olson
This is Griffin's first production with ICT. He is a second-grade student at Iola Elementary. On the set construction team, Griffin helped to prime and paint the set before construction and lightened the mood with jokes. He wants to say "Thank you!" to the director Paige "Mom" Schauf-Olson for the chance to help and to say "Good luck and have fun!" to the cast and audience.

Set Crew

Richard Luken
Until now, Richard's entire exposure to the world of theatre has been to watch his daughters, niece, and grandsons perform in various stage and musical productions. As a reporter for the Iola Register, he's also been invited to review a plethora of Iola Community Theatre, Allen Community College, and Iola High School shows. As a first-timer on a set crew, he asks the audience to avoid looking too closely at the wallpaper border seams.

Set Crew

Shane Schauf
Shane last performed at the ICT Warehouse for play practice in the mid-80s when it was an actual warehouse. He is happy to return for this production as a member of the set crew, as he prefers the background work to the limelight.

Set Crew

Ben Olson
Ben is always happy to support Iola Community Theater. Having performed in ICT as Murray in "The Odd Couple" and Razoul in "Aladdin." More recently as the stranded driver that dies in "Clue" and as Mike in the original play by Nic Olson "Colborn County Broadcast Interruption," (no nepotism there I swear...). And is always willing to lend a hand backstage or with set construction when needed. No payment necessary, just pat his head and give him compliments.
