Our "High School Musical" Set
Has Been Sold

Due to our short time on the main stage, the set was constructed off-site in modules that could be moved in as large blocks.  The modules were constructed with the assistance of a local cabinet factory.  The components were pre-cut on their CNC equipment, allowing very precise joining (rabbeted, glued & screw fastened joints).  The bridge is welded steel construction with a plywood deck to reduce height, plus an 8" step up to a four foot deep upstage area.  The 12' wide X 16' deep platform below the bridge span is designed to move up & down stage with scene changes.  The show was run without curtains, one scene flowing into the next.  The Set Ground Plan (pdf) illustrates the dimensional requirements.

We do not have storage space available to hold or rent the set long term.  We hope to sell the set solely to recoup our investment in materials.  This would include the items shown in the plan (excluding the stage thrust), along with the various school banners that we had commercially produced, and a "wildcat" panel that flys to conceal the "sound booth" upstage of the bridge surface (+8" up) used by Jack Scott for announcements, and doubling for the roof scene.

For further information contact Dee Sell (dee.sell@iolacommunitytheatre.org), Iola Community Theatre board president.  A few photos of the set are available below.  You can see the full show album here.
